Position Summary
Manages all credit, collections, and customer service related activities for a given sales region(s).  Grants credit to customers and maximizes revenue by assessing credit risks and setting credit terms.  Develops payment plans to collect past due balances within company policies and all applicable laws.  Explains customer’s payment terms, monthly statements, promotional pricing and various incentive programs.   Initiates collections process when customers fail to make required payments within terms and assists in bad debt analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
  • Analyzes aging, payment history, and sales trends; evaluates and initiates credit holds, credit limits, and COD terms, making adjustments, and changes as needed; reports findings and provides suggestions on credit limitations and terms to customers and sales management
  • Minimizes monthly past due account balances and days sales outstanding (DSO) by customizing payment plans directly with customers through phone and written correspondence.
  • Determines appropriate allowance for discount and service charges up to $1,000 per account; makes recommendations to management for larger allowances, service charges, extended dating, and promissory notes. 
  • Assesses the credit worthiness of new accounts using credit reports, trade references, and previous buying history.  Set initial terms
  • Maintains timely and detailed “notes” of account activity, collection transactions, and communication using enterprise/customer management systems. 
  • Initiates collections process when customers fail to make required payments within terms. Completes quarterly assessments of customers to accurately reflect Batesville’s bad debt risk and make decisions to minimize bad debt write-offs.
  • Coordinates with other company functions (including sales, marketing, finance, and legal) to solve problems with account reconciliation, billing errors, disputes, and/or the collections process.

Supervisory Responsibilities


This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.


Employee must be able to travel 10% of the time.
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Accounting, Finance, or Business; preferred one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Basic experience Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Skills /Experience

  • Basic experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g. JDEdwards)
  • Analytical-thinking/Problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently
