Position Summary

The Master Scheduler is primarily responsible to work with Production and Supply Chain to develop and maintain daily production schedules and work center load summaries consistent with the objectives of the Corporation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops a production schedule and assures timely delivery of product to customer requirements
  • Loads work centers to maintain efficient work flow and maximize capacity
  • Off loads production to outside sources if work center load demands exceed capacity
  • Establishes the production priority and assures completion to the schedule
  • Maintains status of in-process orders
  • Demonstrates proficiency with the current operating system in all modules pertaining to the correct and timely processing of work functions
  • Systematically expedites Purchasing to assure timely delivery of material to maintain production schedule
  • Assists with coordinating shipping of equipment
  • Follows Lean Manufacturing Practices and continuous improvement champion
  • Provides technical assistance and training to employees, assist in coordinating production activities, designs special fixtures or tooling to increase shop productivity or quality, and maintains a safe work environment
  • Analyze shop routings, drawings, sketches, and design data to determine best work processes
  • Work with Production to maximize production efficiency and maintain production schedules
  • Other duties may be assigned 

Education

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in Operations or a related field; or a minimum of six years production scheduling experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in production scheduling. Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred.

Skills/Experience

  • 6+ years’ experience in production scheduling within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with elastomers, valves, water, waste water, or mining is desirable.
  • Experience in a fast paced, low volume/high mix manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience utilizing an ERP system. Experience using Epicor is preferred (expert)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals (expert)
  • Use of independent judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures (expert)
  • Read and interpret Shop drawings/blueprints (expert)
  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing processes (expert)
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. (expert)
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes and Continuous Improvement (intermediate)
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees (intermediate)
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, margins, markups, percentages, area, circumference and volume (intermediate)
Travel
Employee must be able to travel 15% of the time
